Aggedik Mountain (2820m)

Mount Aggedik is one of the important mountains of the Greater Caucasus, located near the Budug village of the Guba region. It has two peaks at elevations of 2438 m and 2820 m, and is situated along the ancient Khinalig migration routes. The mountain stands out both for its natural beauty and its historical pass function. It is one of the interesting and less-known routes for trekking and mountain hiking.

Aggedik Mountain (2820m)

Mount Aggedik is one of the important mountains located in the Yan range of the Greater Caucasus, west of Buduq village in the Guba region. This area stands out for both its natural beauty and its historical-geographical significance. The Ağ Gədik area consists of two main peaks: one at 2820 meters and the other at 2438 meters above sea level. These peaks are considered key points that form the rugged and majestic relief of the Greater Caucasus.

The meaning of the name “Ağ Gədik” is also interesting. The word “Gədik” refers to a natural pass, saddle, or route between two mountain peaks in mountainous regions. “Ağ” refers to the light, whitish color of the rocks and soil in the area. Thus, the expression “Ağ Gədik” means “light-colored mountain pass.”

Historically, Ağ Gədik is located on very important migration routes. The ancient Khinalig migration path passed through these mountain passes, connecting summer and winter pastures. This route has been the main travel line between villages for centuries and played an important role in seasonal migrations of shepherds. Every year during the pasture migration season, the routes starting from Khinalig and surrounding areas extended to Baku, Gobustan, Siyazan, and other regions.

Ağ Gedik mountain is also an important part of the Yan range. This range stretches along the Caspian Sea and, together with peaks such as Beşbarmaq Mountain, Çıraqqala, Kilitdag, and others, forms an ancient observation and communication line. Historically, these mountains served both as strategic observation points and natural routes for regional movement and connection.

Overall, Ag Gedik mountain is significant not only for its natural beauty but also as a witness to ancient migration culture and historical routes. This area is considered one of the lesser-known but highly valuable routes of the Greater Caucasus, offering both an interesting and meaningful destination for nature lovers.
