İlisu Milli Parkı

Ilisu National Park is a rare and protected area located in the Qax and Zaqatala regions of Azerbaijan. Ilisu National Park is one of the rare and protected areas located on the southern macro-slope of the Greater Caucasus in Azerbaijan. The park's elevations range from 550 to 2500 meters above sea level, featuring alpine and subalpine meadows, steep mountain forests, rocky areas, foothill meadows, and river valleys. This diverse landscape makes the park an invaluable destination for both botany and zoology enthusiasts.

Plant species found in the park include Eastern pine, Eastern oak, Caucasian yew, Trautfetter beech, Litvinov maple, yew (Taxus baccata), Caucasian bird cherry, Caucasian rhododendron, Mozalan orchid, yellow-flowered orchid, Satirvari steveniella, and other rare species.

Ilisu National Park is also rich in wildlife. Species observed here include wild boar, brown bear, gray wolf, red fox, stone marten, European badger, forest cat, gray hare, common and forest lynx, European lynx, European roe deer, Caucasian chamois, East Caucasian tur, Caucasian red deer, Caucasian black grouse, Caucasian snowcock, golden eagle, bearded vulture, and other animals.

The park also provides habitat for rare and protected species listed in the "Red Book": yew (Taxus baccata), Satirvari steveniella, European lynx, European roe deer, Caucasian chamois, Caucasian black grouse, Caucasian snowcock, golden eagle, and bearded vulture.

Visitors can participate in guided nature walks, observe rare birds and animals, and enjoy photography opportunities. Ilisu National Park is also an ideal destination for ecotourism and implements ongoing conservation programs to protect biodiversity.
