Beshbarmag Mountain is one of Azerbaijan's most renowned rock climbing destinations, offering both physical challenges and stunning scenery. Its natural rock routes are suitable for both beginners and experienced climbers.

Beshbarmag Mountain – The Rock Climbing Pearl of Azerbaijan

In a place where the northern winds gently blow and history meets mythology — Beshbarmag Mountain, located in the Siyazan district, is one of Azerbaijan's most unique rock climbing destinations both spiritually and technically. Just 1 hour and 15 minutes from Baku, this mountain, with its distinctive silhouette, rugged rock formations, and rich history, is an attractive spot for climbers and researchers alike.

The mountain rises 468 meters above sea level, and the height of its rock walls ranges from 20 to 100 meters. Azerbaijan's only multi-pitch climbing route is located here. The rock is solid, non-crumbly, and fully suitable for lead, trad, and multi-pitch climbs. The difficulty of the routes ranges from UIAA 3 to 7, offering a wide spectrum for both beginners and professionals.

Beshbarmag is not just a physical challenge, but also a cultural and spiritual experience. Named after its resemblance to a hand with five fingers, the mountain is known for the Khizir-Zind shrine and has been a pilgrimage site for years. On and around the rocks, there are defensive walls from the Sassanid Empire (3rd–7th centuries), later fortifications along the Gilgilchay line, and other historical traces. Thus, the mountain is invaluable not only for sports but also for history and culture enthusiasts.

In the summer, the area is an important center for climbing and alpine training. As one of the nearest high-relief areas to Baku, it has long been used by local climbers and mountaineering schools for practice. The variety and reliability of the rocks allow practical exercises in rope techniques, teamwork, and leadership skills.

Beshbarmag Mountain combines rock climbing with historical exploration, offering visitors both a physical and spiritual journey. Climbing it means rising and connecting with the past.
