Azerbaijan is one of the oldest regions in the world in terms of viticulture and winemaking. Due to the different climate and soil conditions across the country's regions, each has its own unique wine and brandy production. Let's take a look at the main wineries of Azerbaijan.
 
Baku
The winery operating in Baku started in 1934. It produces various types of wines and brandies: ordinary and branded table wines, red and dessert wines, branded and ordinary brandies, as well as dark grape beverages. The winery supplies both the local and foreign markets.
 
Absheron — "Absheron-Sharab" 
Founded in 1967 as the "Mehdiabad Grape Processing Enterprise", it has been operating as "Absheron-Sharab" JSC since 2003. The winery covers the entire process from grape reception and processing to finished product production and storage. Modernized in 2007, it is equipped with European machinery and applies the ISO 22000 Food Safety System. The winery produces over 70 products and exports to Russia, Belarus, Germany, Kazakhstan, Ukraine, Israel, China, and other countries.
 
Shamakhi — "Meysari" Winery
Also known as "Shirvan Wines", "Meysari" is the first organic wine producer in Azerbaijan certified by the European Union. The winery's vineyards were established in 2014 and currently cover 160 hectares. High-quality French equipment from Pera-Pellenc is used. The winery also features a wine museum, restaurant, and hotel. Visitors can taste organic wines and participate in masterclasses.
 
Sheki — "Abrau-Durso / Sheki Wine" Winery
The Azerbaijani branch of the "Abrau-Durso" brand started operations on June 9, 2023. Equipped with modern technology, it mainly produces sparkling wines. The fertile lands and vineyards of the Sheki region provide a natural raw material base. The winery supplies quality products to both local and export markets.
 
Gabala — Savalan Winery
Savalan Winery started in 2007 in the Savalan valley, Ismayilli district. Equipped with modern technology, it quickly became one of the premium wine brands.

Agsu — "AZGRANATA" LLC
Established in 2011, "AZGRANATA" is one of the largest beverage producers in the South Caucasus. The winery spans 14 hectares and produces natural fruit juices, concentrates, compotes, lemonades, wines, and brandies. It is equipped with machinery imported from Germany, Switzerland, Italy, Bulgaria, and France.

Ganja
The Ganja Winery was founded in 1984. Fully modernized in 1998, it is equipped with modern European equipment. The winery started with vineyard planting and today produces wines from varieties such as "Madrese", "Rkatsiteli", "Bayan Shire", "Cabernet Sauvignon", "Chardonnay", "Merlot", "Pinot", "Shiraz", and "Saperavi".

Goychay — "Goychay Wine" JSC
Established in 1985, the enterprise started operating as a JSC in 2005. The winery can process up to 15,000 tons of grapes per season and exports its products to Russia.
 
Goygol — "Goygol Wine" JSC
Founded in 1860 by German specialists, it is one of the oldest wineries in Azerbaijan. It produces wine, brandy, champagne, and vodka under the "Khan" brand. For many years, the winery exported wines to Germany and the Netherlands.

Shamkir — "Sharq Ulduzu" Winery
Established in 2002, the winery produces dry red wines and low-alcohol semi-sweet wine blends. It also organizes tours and tasting programs, and visitors can explore the Sharq Ulduzu Museum.

Tovuz — "Tovuz Baltia" Winery
Founded in 1989, the winery has been operating as an LLC since 1993. It was established during the Soviet period to promote viticulture and winemaking.
 
Jalilabad — "Jalilabad Sharab-9"
Founded in 1981, the winery specializes in grape processing. It is known for the brands "Sharq Mirvarisi", "Hasilli", and "Nargiz" and also produces vodka and other alcoholic beverages.
 
Ismayilli — "Chabiant" Wine
The "Chabiant" grape is grown at an altitude of 750 meters on the southern slopes of the Greater Caucasus. Produced at the Ismayilli Wine-2 winery, the wine is made with the participation of local and Italian specialists.
 
Shabran — "Merit Brand" LLC
Started in 2007, the winery produces premium wines and brandies. In 2024, it merged with "Caspian Coast Vinery and Vineyards-2" LLC to expand its operations.

Babek Orabanli

Babek Isgandarov (Orabanli) – Professional mountaineer, mountain guide and trainer. He has 15 years of experience, has climbed more than 100 peaks. He is the first Azerbaijani to solo climb the highest peak of Azerbaijan, Mount Bazarduzu, in winter. He has completed various international courses in mountaineering and guiding.
