Overview
Mount Tufandag is the third highest peak in the Greater Caucasus range in Azerbaijan. Its elevation is 4,191 meters. Mount Tufandag is located in the administrative districts of Quba, Qusar, and Qabala. From the direction of Quba, some branches of the Qudial River, from Qabala, the sources of the Dəmiraparan and from Qusar, the sources of the Mahmudchay River, originate from the summit of Mount Tufandag. Glaciers that do not melt for centuries on the slopes of Qusar always make the Mahmudchay River very abundant. On the western side, at an altitude of 3,300 meters, Lake Tufangol adds another beauty to the mountain. According to local residents, this name is often associated with strong winds, avalanches, and volcanic eruptions on the mountain.
