Overview
Sim village is one of the ancient residential settlements in our country. Its population consists of Talysh people. The name of the village means "lightning" or "height" in the Talysh language. Sim village is located in the Gayalig region, meaning "rocky area" in Azerbaijani. Although its history has not been fully researched, the presence of cemeteries indicates that the village's history is ancient. There are 12 cemeteries in the village, each representing different periods of history. The oldest settlement in the village is located in the Ute neighborhood, covering an area of 10 hectares, with rock carvings 30 cm deep and 40 cm long, proving that it was a residential settlement in the medieval period. The central elevation of the village is 550 meters. The main occupations of the population are beekeeping, gardening, fruit growing, and animal husbandry.
