Overview
Mount Kapaz - Located in the Goygol district in the Lesser Caucasus, it lies along the source of the Aghsu River. Its elevation is 3066 meters. The southern slope is relatively inclined, while the northern slope is steep and cliffy. Mount Kapaz is situated on the northern slope of the Murov Mountain range in the Goygol district. On September 30, 1139, as a result of a strong earthquake, large rock fragments fell from this mountain, tumbling into the gorge of the Aghsu River and blocking its flow. As a result, lakes such as Goygol, Maralgol, and others formed along the riverbed.
