Dəmbəlov village, the highest settlement in the Masally district, is located at the foothills of the Burovar range. The name of the village means "pleasantly scented waterside" in the Talysh language, and livestock farming is the main occupation here.
Dəmbəlov village is located approximately 14 km southwest of Masally city, at the foothills of the Burovar range, along the banks of the Vileshchay River. The local population pronounces the village name differently – as Dəmbolovu or Dəmbələhu.
Within the village area lies Dəmbəlov Peak (827 meters), the highest point in the Masally district. For this reason, Dəmbəlov is considered the highest settlement in the region.
Dəmbəlov village was established in the 19th century as a result of the settlement of the Kalish (or Qalish) tribe, a branch of the Talysh people, who migrated from Southern Azerbaijan.
The name Dəmbəlov comes from the Talysh words "dəmbo" (pleasant scent), "lev" (side), and "ov" (water), meaning "pleasantly scented waterside." Some sources also associate the name with a local spring whose temperature reaches 50°C, in which case the toponym could mean "waters emerging from the ground." According to local explanations, the village name can also mean "high hill" or "mountain place."
The village preserves several historical monuments, among which the oldest – the Dəmbəlov stone box necropolis dating back to the 6th century BC – is especially noteworthy.
