Jumhuriya Peak — is considered one of the highest points of the Greater Caucasus mountain range in northern Azerbaijan. Located in the Qusar district, on the side ridge of Mount Tufandag, this peak rises to 3,740 meters above sea level. This peak, which holds significant importance in Azerbaijan's modern history, was named in honor of the 100th anniversary of the Azerbaijan Democratic Republic, a symbol of the country's independence.
On May 3, 2018, an important event took place in the history of mountaineering in Azerbaijan. Under the leadership of Babek Iskandarov, with the participation of Ilgar Israfilov and Ilgar Mammadov, a new mountain route was opened and the first ascent of this peak was accomplished. Later, on May 25, 2018, the peak was officially named "Jumhuriya Peak".
This initiative was carried out within the framework of events following the decree of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Ilham Aliyev, declaring 2018 as the "Year of the Azerbaijan Democratic Republic." This step aimed to emphasize once again the national historical role of the Azerbaijan Democratic Republic and to preserve its legacy in the mountaineering tradition.
