Sheki Khan Plateau: The Riches of Nature and the Secrets of History

At an elevation of 2088 meters, Sheki Khan Plateau is not only a geographical feature but also a historical and cultural landmark located to the north of Sheki city. Its significance extends from being a summer pasture for livestock to serving as a favorable rest and hunting ground for Sheki khans.

The road from the Khan Palace in Sheki to the plateau is the historic Khan Road, a path walked by generations. In addition, another route starting from Marxal serves as a modern road to reach the plateau.

As the road ascends, it passes through wooded areas, presenting breathtaking natural landscapes toward the alpine meadows at an altitude of 1700 meters. In summer, these meadows come to life with shepherds tending their herds and some domesticated horses raised in the area for years.

The plateau also attracts nature lovers and travelers with its abundance of raspberries, blackberries, and other beneficial plants. In addition to its natural offerings, the plateau provides an impressive panorama of the Greater Caucasus mountains, showcasing peaks such as Seyityurd (3889 m), Nohurdagh (3663 m), Chikhoturmaz (3561 m), Tislaqhan (3546 m), and Zandag (2930 m).

Sheki Khan Plateau stands as an eternal symbol of the intersection of nature, history, and culture in the region, ranging from its role in traditional pastoral life to appealing to modern adventurers.
