Yarudag Peak is one of the highest and most prominent mountains in the Republic of Azerbaijan. Its official height is 4116 meters, making it one of the most significant peaks of the Greater Caucasus mountain range. Yarudag is located in the Yan range of the Greater Caucasus, within the territory of Shahdag National Park in the Gusar region, and at the same time, it is one of the strategic points on the border between Azerbaijan and the Republic of Dagestan of the Russian Federation.
Located in the Gusar region, Yarudag Peak belongs to the same mountain system as Shahdag and Bazarduzu peaks. It is situated in the Yan range of the Greater Caucasus, forming one of the highest points of the mountainous terrain. The mountain is known for its steep rocky slopes and breathtaking landscapes.
Since this peak is part of Shahdag National Park, it is home to rare species of flora and fauna. In summer, the foothills of the mountain are covered with alpine meadows, while in winter, they are blanketed with thick snow and characterized by extreme weather conditions.
