Among Azerbaijan's natural wonders, the Muçuq Waterfall (Muçuq / Muchug Waterfall) holds a special place and is considered the tallest waterfall in the country. Located in the steep mountains of the Gabala district, near the village of Laza, on the right bank of the Demiraparan River, this waterfall is one of the most visited natural landmarks by nature lovers, hiking enthusiasts, and photographers.
The waterfall's height is approximately 90–96 meters. As the water cascades down the steep rocks with great force, it creates cool air, mist, and the sound of a strong stream around it. Due to snowmelt, the water volume increases in spring and early summer, giving Muchug Waterfall its most impressive appearance. The waterfall is named after the nearby ancient village of Muchug.
The waterfall's most abundant water flow occurs between April and June.
In winter, the waterfall partially or completely freezes, creating a rare and stunning sight. However, road and weather conditions can be challenging during this season.
The waterfall is also located on the ancient Laza–Khinalug caravan route and is considered one of the important points on the region's historical-geographical map.
