Sım village is one of the ancient settlements of our country. Its population consists of Talysh people. The name of the village means "steep" or "high" in the Talysh language. Sym village translates to "a village located on a rocky place." Although its history has not been fully explored, the cemeteries in the village indicate that it is quite ancient. The village has 12 cemeteries, each reflecting different historical periods. The oldest settlement in the village is in the Ute neighborhood, where stone cavities with a depth of 30 cm and a length of 40 cm, covering an area of 10 hectares, prove that this place was inhabited during the Middle Ages. The central altitude of the village is 550 meters. The main occupations of the local population are beekeeping, vegetable growing, fruit growing, and livestock farming.
